Empowering Tech-Savvy Librarians on a Budget

Welcome to Library Geek, a space dedicated to helping librarians, educators, and makers find creative, affordable tech solutions for their libraries and learning communities. Whether you’re setting up digital signage with a Raspberry Pi, repurposing old PCs as catalog stations, or experimenting with 3D printing, this blog is here to show that innovation doesn’t have to come with a high price tag.

Who’s Behind Library Geek

Hi, I’m Dave Jones, the Head of Computers and Digital Services at the Westhampton Free Library in New York.I’ve spent my career helping patrons and staff navigate technology—from troubleshooting a stubborn printer to launching full-scale digital projects that improve how libraries connect with their communities.

My passion lies at the intersection of libraries, open-source technology, and practical creativity. I believe that with a little experimentation and a willingness to learn, libraries of all sizes can build powerful, modern tools—without blowing the budget.

My goal with Library Geek is to spark ideas, share practical knowledge, and build a community of tech-curious librarians who want to do more with less.
